Suspected Food Poisoning kills Three Women In Assam
NAGAON: Three women died while two others fell ill in a suspected case of food poisoning in Hojai in central Assam today.
Local reports said the five women fell ill after having their food in the paddy field at Jamunamukh village. Reports stated that the women complained of fever, weakness and blood vomiting.
After they were taken to hospital, three of them died while two were seriously ill, the officials said, adding the deceased were identified as Binita Bora, Usha Bora and Bobita Bora.
It could be a case of food poisoning as local people claimed that poisonous insecticide might have got mixed in the food.
The district administration rushed a food inspection team for collection of samples, officials said.
