Sikkim to get 12,500 doses of Covidshield vaccine

State immunisation officer Dr Phumzay Denzongpa, on Wednesday, said that Sikkim would get 12,500 doses of Covidshield vaccines for the vaccination drive on January 16.

"We will carry out the vaccination drive in sequential groups. The first group will comprise healthcare workers, and the second group will comprise all frontline workers. The third group will comprise all those above the age of 50 and under 50 with comorbidities," Dr Denzongpa said.

"Two members of the Rapid Response Team from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Customs Organization (WCO) India have been deployed to assist and oversee the vaccination drive in Sikkim," he added.

Sikkim on Wednesday received its first consignment of 1,250 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
