GANGTOK: Sikkim’s Geyzing college authorities on February 19 expelled four of its students who protested to demand up-gradation of infrastructure.

Commenting on the arrest, Sikkim Progressive Youth Forum (SPYF) has expressed shock over the move and termed it ‘disgracing’.

“SPYF condemns this cowardly act of the college administration and seeks for an immediate reinstatement of the students,” they stated in a release.

They have also demanded a meeting with the State Education Minister at the earliest.

The names of the four students are Prabin Sharma, Prabin Basnett, Nakul Sharma and Lok Nath Chettri.

The expelled students stated it is their democratic right to demand better infrastructure in the college.

Meanwhile, the college principal has refused to comment on the issue.
