Sikkim: Husband-wife duo arrested for possessing Brown Sugar

GANGTOK:

Jorethang Police, on Wednesday, arrested a husband-wife duo from South Sikkim for drug possession.

The couple were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPDS) Act for possessing and engaging in the trade of the contraband substance.

Acting on a tip-off, the police team conducted a search operation at the couple's residence at Majhigaon and recovered the banned substances.

Approximately 44 pouches of Brown Sugar with an estimated market value of Rs. 2.5 lakh were recovered from the house.

Meanwhile, the Sikkim Police Department has sought the help of the public in eradicating the drug menace from society and has also urged the public to inform them of any such activities through the official government portal.
