Sikkim: Election officials inspect polling booths ahead of GMC election

GANGTOK:

The Election Observer-cum-Social Welfare and Justice Department Secretary, Chewang Gyaccho, along with sector Magistrate Rabin Sewa, and Liaison Officer-cum-District Planning Officer, East District Zilla Panchayat, Sonam G. Bhutia, inspected all polling stations ahead of the Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC) election.

The polling stations include Bojoghari Senior Secondary School (one polling station), Burtuk Junior Secondary School (four polling stations), Rongkey Junior Secondary School (three polling stations) and Modern Senior Secondary School (three polling stations).

The inspection focused on the accessibility of the voting area, proper lighting conditions, including entry and exit hindrances for the voters.

The Election Observer also instructed the booth-level officers to keep a strict vigil at the polling stations and make all the necessary improvements before the polls.
