Sikkim BJP president meets MoS Home; seeks addressal of pending demands

GANGTOK:

Sikkim BJP President DB Chauhan, on February 23, met the Minister of State (MoS) in charge of Home, G. Kishan Reddy, in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum listing the pending demands of the state.

The memorandum listed demands seeking tribal status for the left-out communities of Sikkim, Assembly seat reservation for the Limboo and Tamang communities and, the fulfilment of other pending demands.

Chauhan urged the Home Ministry to come up with an early solution to the Limboo-Tamang seat reservation issue, which has been pending for 18 years.

The State BJP President also requested the Ministry to address the pending demands without affecting Article 371F.

Meanwhile, the MoS has given a positive assurance to address the demands gradually.
