Sikkim archer Tarundeep Rai felicitated after qualifying for Tokyo Olympics

GANGTOK:

Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang, on Thursday, felicitated Padmashree awardee archer Tarundeep Rai on qualifying for the Olympic Games in Archery at Tokyo.

"I urge the youths to draw inspiration from individuals like Tarundeep and embark on their journey to success. Further, we will upgrade playgrounds in each district to standard requirement and have directed the concerned department to prioritise inter-house sports event in all the schools in the state,” said Golay.

The CM also presented a cheque of Rs 5 lakh as a token of support and appreciation to the archer and wished him all success for the Olympics.

The Tokyo Olympics are slated to be held from July 23, 2021.
