Sikkim adjudged ‘most film-friendly state’ at 67th National Film Awards

Sikkim was adjudged as the ‘most film-friendly state’ in the country at the 67th National Film Awards held in Delhi on March 22.

The Himalayan state known for its scenic beauty and majestic mountains has been trying to promote itself as a film-friendly state by promoting film festivals from time to time.

Acknowledging the achievement, Chief Minister PS Golay said, “It is a proud moment for Sikkim, as we have been awarded the ‘Most Film Friendly State’ in the 67th National Films Award announced today in New Delhi. I congratulate the entire state, particularly the people involved.”

Chairperson of Sikkim Film Promotion Board, Pooja Sharma, expressed her happiness and credited Chief Minister Golay and the state government on the feat.

It may be mentioned that many acclaimed and commercially successful films such as Jewel Thief, Yaariyaan, and others have been shot in Sikkim in the past.
