Dry run for COVID-19 vaccine conducted in South Sikkim

NAMCHI:

COVID-19 vaccination dry run was carried out on Friday at District Hospital Namchi in Sikkim.

The dry run witnessed (DRCHO) Dr Junita Yonzon, (DSO) Dr Urgen Sherpa, (DMS) Dr S N Adhikari and other health officials and staff of District Hospital, Namchi.

The dry run which aimed to identify the constraints and to bridge the gaps between planning and implementation of the programme.

The vaccination team comprised five members with specific roles and responsibilities assigned to each member.

Site set up composed of a hand sanitiser station and ID verifications at entry point, information on the vaccine was given to the beneficiaries in the waiting room. After which the beneficiaries were vaccinated in the vaccination room after validation and data update in the Covid application.

The beneficiaries were kept in the observation room for 30 minutes to identify and address any adverse events following immunisation.

25 beneficiaries were vaccinated during the dry run and a representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) monitored the dry run.

COVID-19 dry runs were also simultaneously carried out at PHCs and CHCs under the South District.
