GANGTOK:

A COVID-19 vaccination dry run was held at Urban PHC, Gangtok on January 2 in the presence of several health officials.

Around 25 beneficiaries were identified and vaccinated according to the SOP.

They also registered their names in the CO-WIN app.

A three-room enclosure (waiting area, vaccination room and observation room) was set up for the dry run at Gangtok, as per guidelines.

Several compulsory clauses were followed for those who were vaccinated, which included registering their names on the CO-WIN app using a valid photo ID.

Beneficiaries also received SMS messages on their registered mobile numbers.

Once identified, they allocated beneficiaries to the session after the creation of the session site.

A vaccination officer checked the registered beneficiaries as per the hard copy along with photo Id verification while another vaccination officer authenticated and verified documents on CO-WIN app.

After vaccination, a beneficiary would have to wait in the observation room for 30 minutes to check for any adverse event following the immunization.

Other vaccination officers ensured that beneficiaries waited for 30 minutes in the observation room where COVID-19 related protocols were imparted.

They also simulated different scenarios regarding vaccination during the dry run.

Meanwhile, State Immunization Officer Dr Phumzay Denzongpa briefed the media about the ongoing dry run for COVID-19 vaccination.

They conducted the vaccination at a primary health centre in the state-run Sir Thutob Namgyal Memorial (STNM) hospital.
