BCCI to kick-start cricket academy in Sikkim

Sikkim Chief Minister PS Golay, on January 6, met with the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jay Shah, who assured the CM that they would pitch a National Cricket Academy in the state.

Taking to Twitter, Golay posted the following tweet, “It was a pleasure to meet Shri Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) at my official residence. We discussed several points towards the advancement of cricket in the state and further improving the infrastructure.”

With the Centre focusing on sports development, the visiting senior official from the BCCI would give an impetus towards cricket as a career for many young lads in Sikkim.

The BCCI has taken a keen interest in the past on expanding the reach of cricket not only as a sport but also an avenue for opportunities in northeast India where a majority of the people are football lovers.

The president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, Abhishek Dalmia, assisted the BCCI secretary, among other officials of the governing body.
