Sikkim strength lifters represent India at Bali, Indonesia!

Sikkim as a state has given India many reasons to be proud of itself. From being one of the most peaceful states in the nation to producing great athletes of international fame, the state has done it all. And this time again, three strength lifters from Sikkim are part of the 50-member Indian team that will participate in the 6th International Strengthlifting and Incline Bench Press Championship 2018 at Bali, Indonesia. The championship will take place from April 7 to 10.

Sikkim strength lifters Pema Dorjee Bhutia, Pempa Tamang and Santosh Gupta were selected on the basis of their performance in the nationals.
"We have undergone rigorous two-month training for this championship and we hope to come back with medals for our State and country," said Bhutia.

This is the fourth time Bhutia is participating in international tournament. At Bali, he will compete in master men's category (95 kg). Pempa Tamang and Santosh Gupta will participate in senior men's category of 85 kg and 68 kg respectively. Gupta is participating in international championship for the second time in, while for Tamang, the Bali trip will be his first international outing.
