According to the govt sources on an average 15-20 new vehicles are registered in the Motor vehicle division everyday.

There are around 60,000 Sikkim registered vehicles out of which more than seventy percent ply on Gangtok road.

The Sikkim capital was also seen grappling with shortage of cab today.

"I have been waiting for a taxi for the past 20 minutes. The rich and government officers travel in their own vehicles, but it is the middle class people who are facing the transport problem," Nilu Shrestha, a government employee, said waiting for a cab at Super Market area.
