‘No alliance with any communal party’ : Tripura Leader of Opposition
AGARTALA: Without naming the political party, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday announced that they will not form alliance with any party that has 'communal agenda' for the coming civic elections.
"The Congress will never go for any alliance with any communal party for the local bodies elections. Though the party has not finalized about forming alliance with any party, it is confirmed that we are not going to share seats with any communal party," Leader of Opposition Sudip Roy Barman told the media persons at Congress Bhawan this evening.
However, he said that the Congress is open to any anti-Left parties for forming pre-poll alliance. "So far, the party is discussing about different issues related to candidates' selection, campaign etc. We will start pre-poll campaigns in all the 49 different wards under Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), 19 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats on November 3 to 6 next," Sudip Roy Barman said.
The Left Front government proved failure in providing better civic amenities to the people in these long years of reign. "It is because the party did nothing except get involved in different kinds of corruptions. In this case, the Congress is the only alternative party left before the people," he said.
