Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan lays foundation stone for second medical college in Nagaland

Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan laid the foundation stone of the second medical college of the state at the District Hospital, Mon, on Friday.

“India has observed an enormous amount of reforms with the policies under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with an utmost focus on Northeastern states in particular,” Vardhan told the gathering, which included Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

“I’m grateful to @drharshvardhan for personally coming to lay the foundation stone of Medical College Mon. My proud privilege to be a part of the historic day. To provide health care to our people & particularly to the underprivileged & far-flung areas is a long-cherished dream,” Rio said.

“The schemes carried out over the years in the northeast justify the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he added.

On Thursday, Vardhan visited the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research in Dimapur and interacted with the health officials and staff.

He asserted that the health sector is the priority for the Modi government that is determined with regard to the Ayushman Health Scheme.

Following the briefing, he also visited the administrative block, Radio Therapy Centre and the laboratory at CIHSR.

The Union Health Minister would also visit the ongoing construction site of the medical college, including the district hospital in Kohima on Saturday before returning to Delhi.

Vardhan at Dimapur on Thursday for a three-day visit to Nagaland.
