KOHIMA:

The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) on Friday, through the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Peren, submitted a memorandum to Governor RN Ravi regarding two men who have been kept captive by NSCN (Unification) since March 2, 2021.

Dithuibo Newmai, President ZSUN narrated that on March 2, 2021, two men who are farmers by profession hired an autorickshaw and were on the way to Lamhainamdi village, to clear the jungle to construct a house for a lady by the name of Ilungumle of Jalukie town.

The trio (including the Auto driver) were abducted by suspected cadres of NSCN (U) and taken to their designated camp at Khehoi.

On March 3, 2021, the NSCN (U) summoned the President of Zeliang Baudi (N) under the seal and signature of Col Oponthung for negotiation of the crime, who alleged that the outfit caught the three red-handed while they were cutting teak.

“Falsely implicated and accused on the premises of fabricated lies,” Newmai said.

He informed that on March 8, the auto driver was released through the Auto Driver Union’s intervention.

Newmai stated that even after writing to the Chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Groups, to date there has been no positive response nor any action has been taken.

The Union has demanded that the abducted persons should be released unconditionally.

ZSUN has also cautioned that failing to meet the demands within 48 hours starting from March 12, 2021, the Union will launch the next phase of protest.
