The High-powered committee headed by the Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio held a meeting today. State Spokesperson Mmhonlumo Kikon informed that the HPC reviewed the COVID-19 management and the lockdown measures in the state. In this regard, a revised SOP for returnees and travellers who are entering Nagaland will be issued soon.

“We need strict enforcement of the existing SOPs and we also wanted to look into the institutional quarantine because we already have the SOP for paid and home quarantine,”, he said.

Kikon also said that reopening of schools was the second agenda of the meeting. The Department of School Education had submitted a presentation whereby the stakeholders of all the districts were consulted.

“The school education has been given the timeline of November 15 to come up with a concrete proposal with thorough consultation with all the stakeholders,”, said Kikon.

Whereas, regarding reimposing lockdown in the state because of the rising COVID cases, Kikon said that the Health and Family Welfare department has been tasked in reviewing the reasons the neighbouring states have utilised the option of a lockdown.
