ENSF President, Sepili Sangtam on Thursday, said that the meeting between the Eastern Naga Students Federation (ENSF) and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on December 1 and 2, respectively, has remained inconclusive.

Acknowledging the efforts of the Chief Minister, Sangtam said, “The indefinite agitation will continue till it reaches a logical conclusion between the Federation and the Government of Nagaland.”

ENSF had earlier called for four indefinite democratic agitations, from November 30, which ended on December 3.

It had earlier placed a six-point charter of demands addressed to the Chief Minister of Nagaland about the Nagaland Staff Selection Board and a four-point charter on the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC).

Speaking to TNT-The North East Today, Sangtam said, “The demand of the Federation to give 45 per cent reservation to the Eastern Nagaland is genuine and going by the Constitution of India Article 16 which says “equality in matter of public employment.”

Sangtam stated that the Federation has the facts and figures about the two issues of the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) and Nagaland Public Service Commission, and that the Federation will disclose it in their next sitting with the state government.

The Federation also boycotted the 58th Statehood day and the virtual Hornbill Festival in the Eastern Jurisdiction.

They also seized 14 government registered vehicles for disobeying the order, and are likely to be released only after the two parties come to a meeting point, he said.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted by the Cabinet has sincerely appealed to the ENSF to withdraw their agitation and allow the Government to decide the issues based on findings in the larger public interest.

The Committee in the meeting discussed and deliberated all the six charter of demands submitted by the ENSF, in respect of NSSB and decided that the Committee will expedite its report and submit its recommendations to the Cabinet latest by 31st December 2020.

The meeting was attended by all the members, namely Minister P. Paiwang Konyak, Minister Neiba Kronu, Advisor Toshi Wungtung, Chief Secretary and Commissioner & Secretary, Personnel &Administrative Reforms Department.
