KOHIMA:

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton together with the Minister for Planning and Co-ordination and Land Revenue, Neiba Kronu, headed the Cabinet Sub Committee’s consultative meeting on job Reservation Policy with seven Civil Society Organisations (CSO) in Kohima on Friday.

Speaking to media persons, Kronu said, there will be a further meeting to closely study the job reservation issue, where one member each from all the seven civil society organisations will meet to discuss the matter.

“Thereafter, a second meeting with all the representatives will be held on March 20,” he said.

“Our policy is that we want to review the job reservation policy because if we settle for one particular tribe or area, then another problem arises. On what basis it has to be decided whether, on pocket wise or area wise, block-wise or tribe wise, we want the stakeholder’s opinions so that everyone will apply their wisdom so that we sail smoothly in the days to come,” added Kronu.

Notably, the demand for 45 per cent job reservation has been voiced by the Eastern Nagaland Students Federation (ENSF) and Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) comprising six tribes of Eastern Nagaland.

The stakeholders who attended the consultative meeting were the Naga students Federation, Eastern Nagaland People’s organization, Eastern Nagaland Students Federation, Central Nagaland Tribes Council, Eastern Nagaland Gazetted Officers Association, Tenyime People’s Organisation and Core Committee on Rationalization of Reservation Policy.
