Nagaland CM takes over charge as NEPC Chairman from Meghalaya Minister James Sangma

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio took over charge as the new Chairman of the North East Regional Power Committee (NEPC) from Meghalaya Power Minister James Sangma at Kohima on Wednesday.

"Have formally taken over charge as Chairman NE Regional Power Committee from former Chairman @JamesSangma1 Hon'ble Minister of Power, Meghalaya," Rio tweeted.

The NEPC is the highest forum which coordinates various issues relating to the power sector of Northeast, including generation and transmission utilities.

While in Kohima, the Meghalaya Power Minister James Sangma also visited the War Cemetery to pay tribute to three Garo soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the World War II's Battle of Kohima.

"Visited the #WarCemetery at Kohima today. Learned with great pride that there were three Garo soldiers who laid down their lives during World War II's Battle of #Kohima. It stands testament to the selfless efforts of the Allied forces belonging to the 2nd British Division," Sangma tweeted.
