Nagaland Assembly by-polls 2020: Live Updates

Till 4:00 PM, 14 Southern Angami I (ST) AC recorded 70.4 per cent voters' turnout while in 60 Pungro Kiphire (ST), the polling percentage was 89.80 per cent. 

Till 3 pm, voters' turnout at 14 Southern Angami I was recorded at 68.28 per cent while at 60 Pungro Kiphire, it was 87.82 per cent.

A tussle broke out between different political party workers at Jakhama Polling Station 1 under 14 Southern Angami-1 AC. According to sources, opposition NPF workers had blocked the way of the ruling NDPP supporters to cast their votes, alleging violation of model code of conduct.

Till 1:00 pm, the polling percentage at 14 Southern Angami I is 57.1 per cent and 78.75 per cent was recorded at 60 Pungro Kiphire.

Till 11 am, the polling percentage at 14 Southern Angami I is 47.3 per cent and 63.57 per cent was recorded at 60 Pungro Kiphire.

Till 9 am, the polling percentage at 14 Southern Angami is 35.5 per cent and 34.8 per cent recorded at 60 Pungro Kiphire.

Both the seats fell vacant following the demise of the sitting legislators.

Three candidates -- ruling NDPP nominee Medo Yhokha, opposition NPF’s Kikovi Kirha and Independent Seyievilie Peter Zashumo are in the fray for Southern Angami-I seat.

For Pungro-Kiphire seat, five candidates including Khaseo Anar of Congress, Lirimong Sangtam of BJP and three Independents -- K. Shellumthong, T. Yangseo Sangtam and Kiusumew Yimchunger are in the fray.

Polling in two Assembly seats of Nagaland begins today. The two Assembly seats include 14 Southern Angami-1 and 60 Pungro Kiphire. The polling began at 6AM and will continue till 4PM. All the necessary security arrangements have been put in place at the polling booths to ensure smooth conduct of the by-elections.
