KOHIMA:

The Naga Mothers' Association (NMA) has denounced the brutal killing of three persons and property destruction at Lamhainamdi village under Peren District of Nagaland on March 22.

The NMA appealed to all the "national workers" (the reference of which is unclear) not to indulge in any land disputes.

“Let there be a recognition of rights and peace through peaceful dialogue and not through the barrel of guns. As victims of conflict, we appeal that initiatives for peace be upheld for the sake of the people, the unarmed population whose lives and property are endangered through such violent incidents,” NMA said.

“We appeal to the state government to ensure that safety, security and respect for precious human lives are upheld and take strong preventive measures to prevent the recurrence of violence and killing in the state,” NMA added.

NMA has demanded the law enforcing agencies to punish the perpetrators according to law and ensure that the rule of law prevails.

They also urged all citizens to maintain peace and exercise utmost restraint and avoid further escalation of tension.
