KOHIMA:

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday said that the state government is taking several measures to prevent forest fires at Dzukou valley.

Rio stated that some of these measures include the construction of a permanent Fire Control Line around Dzukou Valley, the installation of foolproof surveillance systems in coordination with villages, district administration and first responders, including the setting up of technology-driven Fire Alert Systems.

“If all stakeholders agree, the government intends to declare the Dzukou Valley a Government Reserve Forest,” Rio said.

He also stated that the state government would approach the Centre and other international agencies to support conservation efforts.
