The Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Amardeep Bhatia (IAS) on January 18, said the vaccination drive on the first day (January 16) was conducted successfully with a turnout of 62 per cent.
He said that except for a health care worker who reported minor pain during administration, no other reports of serious after-effects had surfaced.
The senior official also said that out of 26,500 vaccines that the state received ‘10 per cent will be for wastage’ and stated that there would around 11,000-12,000 beneficiaries in the first phase.
‘Since it is a continuous process, we will not set target,’ Bhatia said.
Bhatia also stated that the government plans to continue the vaccination drive every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to not hamper other health services.
Meanwhile, Bhatia urged the people to get themselves vaccinated and to not allow rumours to mislead them.
