TNT News | Kohima, Oct 06, 2018:
The Naga Poeple's Front on Saturday launched scathing attack on the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly alleging him of being "controlled" which led to mismanagement of the decorum of the House.
The statement was given out after the NPF Legislature Party meeting held today at the Dimapur residence of the Leader of Opposition to review the 2nd Assembly Session held on 18th and 20th of September 2018.
According to the press statement, the NPF Legislators expressed unhappiness on the performance of the Speaker of the Assembly, who "failed" to apply his wisdom and keep the August House in order and "who rather seemed to be remotely controlled which led to mismanagement of the decorum of the House."
The NPF Legislature Party also observed that the conduct of the Officials of the Assembly secretariat was also not aboveboard while tendering advice and guidance to the Speaker. "The NPF Members feel that such differential attitude towards the Opposition should not be repeated in the future so that the dignity of the August House is upheld in right spirit," read the press communique.
The Opposition party also alleged that there were many starred questions put up by the NPF members which were also omitted adding that there were also some of the un-starred questions which were not provided answers according to the questions.
They alleged the Speaker of "arbitrarily" omitting the question on the burning issue of the Citizenship Bill 2016 and the Brahmaputra Board, after it was listed for the second day of the session, citing reason that it is not a State subject but a Central subject.
"Such erroneous judgment is unprecedented and must be avoided in future. These issues are not only a matter for the elected members but encompass the future of each and every citizen of the State in general and the Nagas in particular," said the communique.
Meanwhile, slamming the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) for issuing "pack of lies", the NPF members asserted that they are firm and steadfast in their support and loyalty to the Leader of NPF legislature Party, T.R. Zeliang and Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu, President NPF.
"There are no misgivings and that the Unity and Cohesion of the NPF Party at any given time is unparalleled in terms of decision making as well as navigation of Leadership. The futile exercise of the NDPP, coveting to create division in the NPF Party, will have the most agonizing and bitterest experience in the end," they said.
The NPF Legislature Party also expressed their appreciation to the Speaker for accepting the proposal of the Leader of Opposition, T.R.Zeliang, during the 1st session of the 13th House of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, to reconstitute the Joint Legislature Forum (JLF) on the Naga Political Issue.
