Nagaland: Mumbai based lady biker campaigns against women exploitation
DIMAPUR: There have been various instances of people taking up certain campaigns or rallies in the form of marathons, walkathons, bike runs and the likes to spread awareness among people for a particular issue.
In a similar case scenario, a 53 year old Mumbai-based woman named Shailja Gupta was in Dimapur on Sundayto campaign against women exploitation called "Bikers against women exploitation".
The Motorcycles Club Nagaland warmly welcomed Shailja at Clock Tower Junction. The bikers gang rode up to Medziphema from Dimapur carrying the banner of 'Bikers against exploitation'.
Shailja's story dates back to eight years ago after her husband's demise. She later initiated the campaign which started in Delhi 2 months ago.
Speaking to the media, she said that exploitation means suffering and she had suffered a lot in the Indian patriarchal society and seen so many economically independent Indian women being harassed and exploited whether at home or work place.
As per reports, there has been a significant increase in the cases of women exploitation in the Northeastern region in the past few years.
