Nagaland: Landslides damage NH 61 in Wokha district

KOHIMA, August 2: Incessant rains in Nagaland have caused a major landslide damaging National Highway 61 in Wokha district between New Wokha Village and Koio village yesterday.

Official sources reported that it happened probably in the morning hours of yesterday and the restoration works has been carried out with joint effort from district administration Wokha headed by extra assistant commissioner of Chukitong along with National Highway officials and Koio village council.

Two excavators were engaged for cutting fresh earth above the road. It was further reported that more rains may lead to another landslide anytime in the days to come, sources said.
