Nagaland CM Zeliang appeals to agitating bodies 3 days time to step down
KOHIMA: Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang, who along with Nagaland Governor P B Acharya had to rush to New Delhi on the summon of Union Home Minister, had written to the Convener of Nagaland Tribes action Committee (NTAC) appealing him to grant him 2 to 3 days time to take a decision on the demand of the NTAC on his step down.
According to a press release issued by the media cell of NTAC tonight said in view of the assurance given by the Chief Minister TR Zeliang for his stepping down communicated today, appealing to wait for 2 to 3 more days in order to ensure smooth transition of office and in the larger interest of the state.
The proposed public rally and fast unto death convened by JCC and NTAC tomorrow at Kohima is suspended until further notice, it said.
The ongoing bandh for movement of Government vehicles and Government offices is still in force.
The JCC and the NTAC express our deepest concern for the inconveniences caused due to the subsequent developments, the release added.
