Security forces, police recover Methamphetamine tablets in Mizoram, one held

Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered 2,41,900 numbers of Methamphetamine tablets in the general area Kawnpui Vengthar on March 26.

Based on specific information, the operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police, Kolasib.

Defence sources informed that the approximate cost of the recovered Methamphetamine tablets is Rs 12,09,50,000.

The Excise & Narcotics Department detained one individual and seized the contraband items.

"Ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border. Assam Rifles have continued their efforts against the smuggling activities in Mizoram," Defence sources said.
