Mizoram: Three held with drugs worth Rs 14.7 lakh in separate incidents

Three persons including a Myanmarese national were arrested with drugs on March 18 in two separate incidents in Mizoram, Excise and Narcotics Department said.

They seized 503 gm of heroin from their possession worth ₹ 14.7 lakh.

Acting on a tip-off, the department officials seized 461 gm of heroin in Zote and Ngur village close to the India-Myanmar border in Champhai district and arrested two persons hailing from Champhai town, it said.

In another incident, 42 gm of heroin was seized, and a Myanmarese was arrested in Aizawl, the statement said.

They believed they had smuggled the drugs from Myanmar.

Officials booked the three accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
