Mizoram Health minister meets authorities of empanelled hospitals in Kolkata

Mizoram Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr R.Lalthangliana met various authorities from empanelled hospitals in Kolkata and requested them to give special care and attention to patients referred from the state of Mizoram, who face financial difficulties and communication problems.

Lalthangliana met the hospital authorities including AMRI Salt Lake Hospital, BM Birla Hospital, Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, RN Tagore Hospital, Medica Super Speciality Hospital and Tata Medical Centre at Mizoram House, Kolkata on March 22 and 23.

He appealed the concerned authorities to expedite the Death Certificate for individuals who died in Kolkata, so that they may quickly transport the bodies of the deceased back to Mizoram.

In case of any difficulties and problems occurring while giving treatment to patients from Mizoram, the Health Minister said that hospitals may inform and seek support from the Joint Resident Commissioner posted at Mizoram House, Kolkata.

The Health Minister made a special appeal to organise short-term training courses for junior doctors in Mizoram in fields such as cardiology, neurology, oncology and other specialised disciplines.

Speaking about the Mizoram State Healthcare Scheme, the Minister said that beneficiaries are provided health insurance of up to Rs two lakh cover in a year which sometimes failed to cover full medical expenses of patients, and requested the hospital authorities to make necessary arrangements to mitigate their problems.
