Assam Rifles recover drugs worth over Rs 5 crore in Mizoram

Troops of the Assam Rifles recovered 612.8 grams of heroin and 2,69,000 Methamphetamine tablets (R17) from the general area Tlangsam in Champhai district of Mizoram on January 21.

The operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and the Excise & Narcotics department of Champhai, based on specific information.

The approximate cost of the recovered heroin and methamphetamine tablets is estimated to be Rs Five crore Ninety lakh Twelve thousand.

"Ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border," Assam Rifles officials said.
