Mizoram: Unpolished stones suspected to be diamonds worth a crore seized

Two persons have been arrested by Mizoram Police district special branch at Aizawl on Saturday after stones suspected to be unpolished diamonds amounting to a crore were seized in two separate operations.

Sources informed that Zohmingathanga 34 and H Lalremruata 21, Kulikawn were arrested at New Secretariat Complex in Aizawl. They were in possession of 14.25 carats diamond which the DSB said worth Rs 1 Cr.

The seized materials were later handed over to the Customs department.

The Customs department officials in Aizawl have said that the seized stones were unpolished and therefore cannot ascertain whether the stones seized were diamonds or not.
