Mizoram students’ death case: Possibility of murder allegedly ruled out, Bodies brought to Mizoram!

Aizawl, May 30, 2017: Assam and Mizoram were on Sunday rocked by mysterious deaths of two students of Assam Down Town University whose dead bodies were recovered from the outskirts of Guwahati.

The bodies of two Mizo students were recovered along a railway track at Panikhaiti on the outskirts of Guwahati in Assam on Sunday morning was brought home on May 29.

The deceased were escorted by North East Rural Livelihood Project (NERLP) director Lalhriatpuia under whose sponsorship the two students were studying two years diploma course in dialysis technician and physiotherapy at Assam Downtown University in Guwahati before they met their tragic death.

The bodies of the two victims C.Lalhmangaihsang (27) and R. Lalmalsawma (27), both from south Mizoram's Lunglei town, were received and homage paid to them by people en route to their native place.

It was also informed that Home Minister R. Lalzirliana had written to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal imploring the latter to initiate a probe into the case.

Also, a prohibitory order was issued by the Mizo Students' Union (MSU) asking all non-tribal traders to have their shutters down till compensation is given to the bereaved families. Police and local people believed that the two students might have struck to death by a train.

However, MZP, MSU and other civil bodies in Mizoram alleged that they were brutally murdered by unidentified miscreants and asked the Assam government to investigate into the case.

Following an investigation into the matter that was ordered by Assam Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the murder angle was ruled out.

As reported by dy365 news portal, the murder angle was ruled out following the GMCH postmortem report stating that the deceased duo was hit by a speeding train. This was disclosed by police officials investigating the case.
