Mizo Students Shine In NASA Space Programme

The US Space and Rocket Center, NASA's official Visitor Information Center for Marshall Space Flight Center, (Huntsville, US) organized The Advanced Space Academy Programme from November 15 to 20 at the U.S.S.R.C where sixteen students from Mizoram took part.

They have successfully completed the program with flying colors. The sixteen students consisting of seven girls and nine boys from St. Paul's Higher Secondary School, Aizawl, Mizoram were accompanied by Lalhnuna Hauhnar,Space Camp Ambassador, and were awarded with the 'Right Stuff' and outstanding medal and three Team Awards during the 6 day 'Advanced Space Academy Program' Trainee Jonathan Lalrammawia Hmar achieved the most prestigious medal- 'Right Stuff' for his outstanding show of leadership, team-work and demonstration of character as an aspiring Astronaut.

The team that was named after the famous retired German-American rocket scientist 'Von Tiesenhausen' also achieved awards during the training. Lastly, the students took part in the Scuba activity where they were given various underwater tasks which were completed with much enthusiasm and team work. The students did a great deal of work as well in other activities which included indoor and outdoor activities. "There are great hidden talents among our youths in the Northeast which need exposure," said Space Camp Ambassador Lalhnuna Hauhnar.
