Deputy Commander-in-Chief of United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I), Drishti Rajkhowa along with four other accomplices, surrendered before Meghalaya police at Dilsengre village in South Garo Hills district on Wednesday.

Police identified the four others cadres as Yashin Ali from Lakhipur, Rup Jyoti Rabha from Beldongpara Krisnai, Assam, Babul Rabha from Chotamati Goalpara, Assam and Rahul Hazarika from Moran district, Assam.

“Deputy Commander-in-Chief of United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I) Drishti Rajkhowa has been handed over to Assam police and Security Forces, after he surrendered on Wednesday evening to Meghalaya Police,” Meghalaya Police said in Tweet.

Police also recovered one AK-81 rifle, two 9 mm pistols, 90 AK-81 rounds, nine rounds of 9 mm pistol ammo and eight rounds of .32 ammo from their possession.

Rajkhowa, a close aide to ULFA-I's 'commander-in-chief' Paresh Baruah, revealed that they had escaped from an encounter at Bolbokgre in South Garo Hills and crossed over to Bangladesh's Gaobari village.
