SBI distributes utility essential items to seven villages of Meghalaya

The State Bank of India, Regional Business Office at Chandmary in collaboration with the A’chik Heritage Pursuits (AHP), Tura donated utility essential items to seven villages at A’sim in Rombagre, West Garo Hills, Meghalaya on January 9.

The seven villages include Chiwatagre, Mandalgre, Rongkinggre, Bandigre, Ampangre, Rongchek Chambugong and Rongchek Manda.

“These villages were chosen since they are one of the remotest areas of Garo Hills situated across the Simsang River, which is hardly accessible from Chinabat,” President of AHP, Prakash Momin said.

The Chief Manager, SBI, Regional Business Office, Chandmary Tura, Anjana Datta Arengh and Assistant General Manager Dharmananda Banai distributed the utility items comprising woollen blankets, torchlight, woollen caps including notebooks for children.

A total of 230 households were covered and benefited under the scheme.

Meanwhile, the baby blankets were handed over to the DMCHO, Tura Dr Ivonne M Sangma to be distributed later.
