Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma on November 28 stated that it is very unfortunate that the same points are being repeated again pointing much to the Opposition.

Speaking to reporters, CM Conrad Sangma said, “The points raised by the opposition on implementing the Saubhagya scheme have been clarified by the Power Minister during the Assembly session. We have clarified this issue before the media, unfortunately the opposition is continuously raising this issue.”

He said that the allotment of work was done as per guidelines and with the approval of the Central government.

“If things were not properly done, then the Government of India would have not cleared the bills,” Meghalaya Chief Minister stated.

According to the CM, if the opposition is repeating the same again to convince that 'this is black', it will not work.

“The opposition should raise issues important to the State,” he stated.

Earlier on Friday, Leader of Opposition, Dr Mukul Sangma questioned the implementation of the Saubhagya scheme and alleged that the State Government has manipulated the tendering process to ensure that a predetermined bidder is qualified.

According to the Leader of Opposition, procurement of materials constitutes over 70 per cent of the project cost under Saubhagya scheme, which is under implementation.
