According to sources, the 18-year-old, identified as Imdad Hussain, went missing from the town on September, 20. They kept the boy in the house of one Samrat M Marak, who was arrested with the others.

They allegedly kidnapped the teen from Mankachar and took him to the village of Domapara in South West Garo Hills.

The others arrested in connection to the case have been identified as Aminul Islam, Saiful Islam, Baharul Islam, Golam Rabbani, Nomej Garo, Ahmed Hussain, among others.

“We initially thought it was a case of teen love because of which they kidnapped Hussain, but we later found that it had been for money after the culprits admitted to the act,” said one of the investigating officers on condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, the locals on Wednesday showed up outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner of South Salmara in Hatsingimari and demanded capital punishment for those involved in the murder.
