Meghalaya: West Khasi Hills MLA lays foundation stone for road construction

NONGSTOIN: Nongstoin MLA, Macmillan Byrsat on December 16, inaugurated and also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 3 km road from Urkali-Tiehbah to Mawlangniang under West Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.

Superintending Engineer PWD (R) Western Circle M. Dhar addressing the gathering said that, “The 3 km road from Urkali to Tiehbah was sanctioned in 2001 when he was a Sub-Divisional Officer of PWD, Nongstoin Division but the road was left incomplete.”

He also said, “The blacktopping of the 3 km road sanctioned is worth ₹ 2,46,89,500 and the second phase of 4 km connecting Mawlangniang village which includes only the earthwork is worth ₹ 2,37,12,000.”

The construction work is said to have resumed after 19 years under the efforts of MLA of Nongstoin, Macmillan Byrsat.

The inaugural function was also attended by M. Dhar, Superintending Engineer of PWD, Western Circle, A.B. Umdor, Executive Engineer PWD, Nongstoin Division, Assistant engineers, staff of PWD among others.
