Meghalaya: Unknown miscreants "assault" labourers in West Khasi Hills

Some labourers at the construction site of Eklavya Model Residential School at Sohparu village in Meghalaya's West Khasi Hills were allegedly assaulted by unknown miscreants on February 17.

According to the police, one Ebrista Kharbani lodged a complaint that on February 13 around 11 pm, unknown miscreants came to the construction site of Eklavya Model Residential School at Sohparu village and assaulted the labourers.

The unknown miscreants allegedly forcefully entered a tent house of the labourers and assaulted them with some objects and torched their tent house.

The West Khasi Hills police have registered a case in connection with the FIR lodged by Ebrista Kharbani and investigation is on.

During a recent visit to the construction site of Eklavya Model Residential School at Sohparu, it was found that the tent house of the labourers was completely burnt down.

Three drilling machines were also seen in the area along with several sample stones collected and kept inside the box.

Meanwhile, the Headman of Sohparu village, G.R. Marweiñ said he had no information about the labourers working at the Residential School construction site.
