Meghalaya: Two held for circulating counterfeit currency

Nongstoin police on November 26 arrested two persons for alleged involvement in the smuggling of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) from Assam to Meghalaya.

Sources informed on receiving information from a reliable source, a naka was set up and a person by the name Donboklang Marwein was intercepted and apprehended from Sohpian tri-junction.

Police recovered from his possession 35 numbers of Rs 2000 Fake Indian Currency Notes. On the tip-off of the accused another smuggler, Johnny Kharbani was arrested from Shillong.

A case has been lodged under Nongstoin Police Station, and the matter is under investigation.
