WILLIAMNAGAR:

Continuing the crackdown on the transportation of illegal coal in the state, East Garo Hills (EGH) police detained two coal trucks on January 27 for transporting coal without valid documents.

According to sources, the two trucks were transporting coal from Jadi in South Garo Hills through Chiading in East Garo Hills up to Garobadha in South West Garo Hills (SWGH).

Upon receiving information of their movement, Circle Inspector of Williamnagar, B.K Mishra, stopped the trucks on the road near the highway and apprehended the drivers.

The trucks were apparently on their way to Garobadha in South West Garo Hills to provide for the various brick kilns along the route but were transporting coal with no valid documents.

“We have apprehended the vehicles and seized the contents. A case is being registered, and the drivers of the two vehicles have been arrested,” confirmed SP, Bruno A Sangma.
