SHILLONG

The Meghalaya COVID Task Force, on November 19, held a meeting on the COVID-19 vaccine to take advance and preparatory steps to introduce the vaccine in the state.

The meeting was held at the office of the National Health Mission, Meghalaya, with the Commissioner & Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Sampath Kumar, serving as the chairman.

The meeting unanimously decided that they would conduct the vaccination in a phase-wise manner.

According to the state government, the first phase of the vaccination would be for health workers.

The state government has identified around 25,000 healthcare workers, both public and private.

Others who attended the meeting included the mission director of NHM, the director of Health Services Research, representatives from the Social Welfare Department, Urban Affairs Department, UNDP, WHO, IAP, religious organisations and officers and staff of the State Health Department and National Health Mission.
