Meghalaya: Three labourers buried alive in landslide in Shillong

SHILLONG:

Three labourers from Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya were buried alive in a landslide at Dong Lum Rumnong, Mawpat Circle-III in Shillong on Thursday afternoon around 1 pm.

When contacted, Mawpat Rangbah Shnong (headman), Khrawbuit Ryntathiang informed that the three were engaged in the construction of a retaining wall belonging to one Ms Farmcy Dora Syiem.

The deceased have been identified as Basudev Rabha (22), Songeet Rabha (21) and Mahadev Rabha (19).

The police along with the personnel of the Fire and Emergency service and the State Disaster Response Force rushed to the spot to rescue the three labourers in the presence of the Block Development Officer (BDO) of the Mawpat C&RD Block.

All the three bodies were shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital for the post mortem.
