TURA:

The Post-Graduate Student Union (PGSU) of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Meghalaya, through an official communique, has firmly objected to the conducting of an interview for a vacant post in the Tura Campus at Guwahati in Assam.

The advertisement for the post of Guest Lecturer, Master of Science, Department of Forestry was made on February 11.

However, the place of interview has been put forward as Guwahati.

“We discussed this with the pro vice chancellor of NEHU Tura campus and objected to the venue. We demand that the interview should be held at Tura NEHU Campus itself,” stated the PGSU through a release.

The student body asserted that the PVC could not satisfactorily explain why the interview was being held in Guwahati.

“The PVC kept on saying that the interview at Guwahati is because of COVID-19. However, this practice of taking interviews for various posts at Guwahati is an old practice by NEHU Tura, even before COVID. We feel such practices should be immediately stopped. There should be no issue in interviewing within NEHU Tura campus itself after following the protocols,” they added.

The PGSU added it was disappointed with the PVC on the matter of the interview and hoped the venue would be shifted as requested.
