Meghalaya State Food Commission review meeting held in Tura

The Chairman of the Meghalaya State Food Commission (MSFC), Shillong, P.S Thangkhiew, held a review meeting on March 22 with all the Deputy Commissioners (Supply) and District Grievances Redressal Officers (DGROs) of Garo Hills region at the Circuit House in West Garo Hills (WGH).

The meeting aimed to review the status and progress of the activities of the commission, including the functioning of the Grievances Redressal Mechanism and Vigilance Committee in the respective districts.

Thangkhiew briefed the members about the purpose of setting up the commission and informed them that the review meeting is necessary to discuss and ensure compliance with the act and to supervise the mandate of looking after implementing the Midday Meal and other Nutritional programmes under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in the district.

MSFC Member Secretary Sabrella Marak stated that the Action Taken Report (ATR) of the districts comprises setting up of NFSA Cell, finalisation of block-wise social audit calendar, automation of fair price shops and computerisation of supply chain, onetime issue of ration cards, inspection, maintenance of records in fair price shops, etc.

Apart from the Deputy Commissioners, officials of the concerned departments also attended the meeting.
