 |

TURA:

The All Meghalaya 4th Teachers’ Association under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) on March 4, met Education minister Lakhmen Rymbui, seeking the fulfilment of their long pending demands.

The teachers have been demanding equal pay for equal work as they are still being paid only ₹ 12,000 for the same amount of work being done by their other SSA colleagues, who draw ₹ 20,493 as monthly salaries.

The matter is being pursued by the teachers since 2017 with little traction for the SSA 4th teachers.

“We met the minister and has promised to look into the matter discussing the same with the Chief Minister. We also met the Deputy Chief Minister on the same,” said the teachers through a press release.

The teachers also met DP Wahlang, principal secretary to the Department of Education on the issue and were assured the matter would be looked into.
