Meghalaya: South Garo Hills volleyball tourney ends

A three-day volleyball tournament that was held in the picturesque village of Siju in South Garo Hills (SGH) ended on January 9 with the Bolsalgre Warriors Volleyball team emerging champions after defeating the Attong Brothers team in a keenly contested final.

The tournament which took place between January 7 to 9 saw twenty-four teams fight it out to win the prize.

The tournament was organised by the Kengkam Socio Cultural Youth Club of Siju with sponsorship from the local MLA, Rakkam Sangma.

Two exhibition matches, between MLA – 6 against the SP – 6 and DC 6, preceded the start of the tournament.

The open tournament, christened Garo Hills Open Challenge, saw teams from across five districts of Garo Hills.

The tournament also saw Chokpot MLA, Lazarus Sangma and the Deputy Commissioner, Mary T Sangma, SP, Priyangshu Pandey and other senior residents of Siju area.
