Meghalaya: Soil & Water Conservation Minister Hamlet Dohling attends passing-out ceremony in Byrnihat

The passing out ceremony for field functionaries in the rank of Soil and Water Demonstrator (Jr.1) for the year 2019-2020 was held on Thursday, at the Conservation Training Institute (CTI) in Byrnihat, Ri Bhoi district.

Minister In-charge of Soil & Water Conservation Hamletson Dohling, who attended the event as the chief guest, congratulated all the trainees for completing the course before attending to their duty in their respective fields.

“The Conservation Training Institute in Byrnihat is one of the oldest and leading institutions in the northeast that provides training to the Soil and Water Conservation Department, Autonomous District Councils and other line departments. Hence, the institution needs to be upgraded to the Directorate level to enable to enhance its work,” Dohling said.

Around 20 trainees were enrolled during the session, of which six trainees are from the Soil & Water Conservation Department, Jowai Territorial Division, Meghalaya and 14 others from the Chakma Autonomous District Council, Kamalanagar, Mizoram.
